The agriculture of Africa is controlled by their natural resources, geography, and infrastructure. All of these topics are crucial when discussing any past events in Africa. Many of the topics explored on this section of the website have not changed much since 1980.
It is important to note that the agriculture of Africa is known as the single most important factor when it comes to economic success. The sector of agriculture is able to provide millions of African inhabitants with jobs. Additionally, it contributes to 20- 60% to every country's GDP. (McDaniel, 2012). The African people have very positive feelings about the agriculture as it allows their countries to grow and helps with food insecurity. More than 80% of the rural population relied on the success of the agriculture for their immediate food needs in the 1980's while more than 70% of those people still rely on it today. Beginning in the 1970's, many countries began researching ways to have more sustainable agriculture (US AID, 2016).
